Sandworm

Sandworm is an organic structure/space/creature realized on the dunes of the Wenduine coastline, Belgium. The 45 meters long and 10 m wide and high installation moves freely in-between architecture and environmental art and is constructed entirely out of willow following the local knowledge of a continuing interaction between work and environment. Marco Casagrande worked hard with his team of young architects and local experts for 4 weeks in order to create something that he describes as “weak architecture” – a human made structure that wishes to become part of nature through flexibility and organic presence.

Each store is divided into 10 sections which include the following departments: new arrivals, kitchen, table, house, cleaning, bath, kids, stationary, and garden. Supermarkets redefined!!!!!

Groenhoven Estate

Located on a vast private park near Brussels, in Belgium, the Groenhoven Estate dates from the 17th century; the property has been called the first "eco-castle" in Europe, with giant solar panels and a recycling system for rainwater. Architects Bateille & Ibens renovated the interiors, seamlessly integrating modern elements with a collection of Old Master paintings. The estate now functions as a venue for conferences, weddings, and other events.

Sustainable Reclaimed Barn House in Belgium

Recycling is among the simplest of eco-friendly actions, but when architect Rita Huys of the firm Buro II took on this modest approach to modern house design, the result is something quite spectacular by way of sustainable housing. Dubbed the Barn House for obvious reasons, this reclaimed Belgian barn boasts a traditional frame set in a contemporary glass and fully functional shutter facade, allowing for large, naturally lit, naturally ventilated interiors. Verdickt & Verdickt Greenhouse

Materialicious posted the Greenhouse by Antwerp-based Verdickt & Verdickt Architects not long ago; a minimalist take on the traditional agrarian barn form combined with a greenhouse-like use of glass. (N.B. Materialicious has relaunched as “a user-submitted visual curation site featuring residential architecture and design, craftsmanship, materials, and products”—well worth a visit.)
